At GCSE and A Level, pupils with learning difficulties must be assessed for access arrangements unless they have a medical condition requiring accommodations. This assessment is usually done by the school, but can be done privately with prior school agreement. We are happy to liaise with schools and assess for access arrangements from Year 9. We can also provide assessment reports that can be used to support applications for extra time or other accommodations in the Kent Test and in Common Entrance exams for independent senior schools. This assessment usually takes about two hours to complete, but can be done over two sittings. Results are available within a week.

If you are a school or FE college in need of extra help assessing your pupils for access arrangements, we are happy to discuss how we could support you in this. Please see our Assessment For Schools and Colleges page for more information.
The Process
Access Arrangements Assessment
£150
-
It is advisable to talk to your child's school SENDCo and get their agreement before booking an Access Arrangements Assessment online, as they will need to liaise with the assessor.
-
Make a booking online from our website, by choosing an available slot on a suitable date. Please be aware that you may be allocated an alternative assessor from the one named on the booking slot. If there are no suitable slots for you, or if you would rather book directly than online, please do get in touch.
-
If you choose to book online, you will be asked to pay an online deposit of £75 to secure your assessment slot.
-
You will be contacted by a member of our team within 48 hours to confirm your booking, to give you the contact details for your assessor and to share the terms and conditions. If you are local to the Canterbury area, you may wish to request a face-to-face assessment instead of an online one.
-
Your assessor will contact you directly at least a week before the assessment with:
-
A link to the online meeting (Zoom / Google Meet) which will be used for the assessment
-
An invoice for the remaining fee of £75
-
A request for the contact details of your child's school SENDCo. An access arrangements assessment cannot be done without the school's agreement. The school SENDCo will need to send a copy of the Form 8 (the form which is filled in by schools to request access arrangements from the Joint Council for Qualifications) to the assessor BEFORE the assessment takes place and the school will need the assessor's details and qualifications for their own records.
-
Information about what you will need to have to hand on the day of the assessment (e.g. paper, pen, computer screen size, webcam etc.).
-
It would be helpful to share a copy of any previous, related assessments that have been done.
-
-
On the day of the assessment, you will need a quiet space with no interruptions or distractions.
-
You will receive the assessment report within one week of the assessment date, providing the invoice has been paid in full.
